Bionics, also known as biomimetics, is design inspired by nature. Examples of bionics include Velcro, Speedo Fastskin and medical ultrasound.
The lotus leaves have a special microstructure in its surface. When dust falls onto the leaf it lodges on the rough surface and the water droplets rolling off clean this surface by carrying away dust.
We achieve this water repellent effect in our fabrics by applying a special nano-finish based on dendrimers.
The lotus effectively has a self-cleaning surface, making it the Buddhist symbol of purity.
