Pineapple fiber
An average pineapple plant produces around 30-40 leaves, that is waste. And what a waste! There is a way to repurposed them.
As pineapples are cultivated primarly for their fruit, leaves are left to rot. The clean collection of these raw materials gives the chance to produce other products, like fibers.
It is good to note that,
- No power is required to dry these fibers – they dry with solar energy
- 100% biodegradable – decomposes into soil in 6-9 months
Besides there are properties advantages, to consider!
Pineapple fiber is 3 to 4 times stronger than cotton and it becomes softer the more the garment is worn. Plus in terms of colour fastness, it has better results.
